Step by step, how to set up a silent disco

Step 1: Unpack Your Equipment

Once your kit arrives, below is how to set up a silent disco and start by laying everything out. You should have:

LED wireless headphones (fully charged)

1–3 transmitters

Audio cables (3.5mm AUX, RCA or USB)

Power cables for transmitters (BLUETOOTH transmitters are also cordless!)

Setup instructions (see video below)

Step 2: Power Up Your Transmitters

Plug each transmitter into a power source OR you can go cordless if you have the BLUETOOTH transmitters
Make sure each transmitter is set to a different channel (usually labelled A, B, C or 1, 2, 3).

Step 3: Connect Your Music Source

Plug your phone, tablet, laptop or DJ mixer into the first transmitter using the AUX or RCA cable
BLUETOOTH: Push & hold the button until it flashes blue and red – it is then discoverable on your device as TX60 RF. The process is the same for all 3 transmitters (see video below)
If you’re using more than one music source (e.g., a playlist on one channel and a DJ on another), repeat the process with the other transmitters.

Step 4: Switch On the Headphones

Switch on the power on each headset. They’ll automatically connect to the transmitters.
Use the button on the side of the headphones to toggle between music channels—each one lights up in a different colour!

Step 5: Test the Sound

Play some music from your device and walk around the space with the headphones on.
You should hear crystal-clear sound, even at a distance. Adjust the volume on your music source if needed.

Step 6: You’re Ready to Party!

Set out the headphones for your guests, dim the lights, and hit play. You’ve just set up a silent disco in minutes! 🎉

Top Tips for hosting your own Silent Disco

1. Test Everything Before Guests Arrive

Set up your transmitters, connect your music sources, and test the headphones well in advance. Walk around with a headset to check range, volume, and clarity. This gives you time to fix any minor issues.

2. Create Multiple Playlists

Make the most of your 3 music channels! Offer a mix of:

Party classics

Modern chart hits

Something quirky (like 80s, cheese, or themed playlists)

This lets guests choose their vibe—and it’s half the fun watching everyone dance to different beats!

3. Label Your Transmitters

Avoid confusion by labelling each transmitter (e.g. Channel 1: Party, Channel 2: Pop, Channel 3: DJ Set). You can also make fun signs to show guests how to switch channels.

4. Use Lighting to Set the Mood

Headphones may light up, but adding fairy lights, disco bulbs, or LED uplighting creates a proper party atmosphere—even in a garden or living room.

5. Keep Spare Headphones Charged

Have a few extra headphones ready, just in case one runs out of power or gets dropped. It keeps the flow going with no interruption.

6. Explain How It Works

Not everyone’s used a silent disco before. A quick intro (or sign) explaining how to power on, switch channels, and adjust volume makes things run smoother.

7. Add a Silent Countdown or Freeze Frame Game

Since everyone’s wearing headphones, use that to your advantage—host a silent “freeze frame” or dance battle on one channel to keep guests engaged and giggling.

8. Have a Backup Power Source

Make sure your music device and transmitters won’t die mid-party—keep chargers or power banks nearby, just in case.
