View from the Shard Silent Disco
The view from the Shard Silent Disco is an absolute MUST for all party goers! Every week, there is an insane party with 3 DJ's playing their own unique brand of music in Europe's tallest building!
A skyscraper which is now recognised as London's NEW emblem and towers above the Capital with sophistication, intrigue and elegance. So why not make the perfect venue for a party!
How does a Silent Disco work?
Imagine being at an event or private celebration and there's a couple of DJ's playing different genres of music; typically, they would be in different rooms and you would choose where you would like dance . . .
Now, take away the sound system in each of those rooms and give everybody a set of wireless headphones, all of which have a button allowing you to choose which DJ you would prefer to listen to and a volume adjuster.
In a nutshell, that is how a Silent Disco works!
Where does the music come from?
Instead of speakers being attached to the DJ's mixer, there is a small transmitter (like the one below) and the signal is then transmitted to the headphones. It's a bit like listening to the radio but with a smaller transmission area.
Isn't that a bit weird, with people dancing and no music?
This is probably the question we get asked most of all and the answer to that, especially the first time you do it, is more 'surreal' than 'weird' BUT . . . it is so much fun!!!
The other thing as well, you don't necessarily need DJ's! You can plug the transmitter into a mobile phone, tablet or computer and use some pre-produced playlists PLUS you will never have anyone complain about the music being too loud!
